Rocks for Rent! A secret society of jewelry renters!

October, 2009, 27 Facets, www.27Facets.com, launches “Rocks for Rent.” Rock and rent the jewels you’ve always wanted to own for a maximum of 48 hours. Turn heads and make jaws drop at any formal event, or even just a night out on the town. You can always rent an apartment or a car, why not rent your jewelry.

October 2009: 27 Facets, a premier jewelry concierge service based in New York City, is pleased to announce the jewelry rental service added to their list of conveniences. By partnering with M. Khordipour Enterprises, an established resource in estate and antique jewelry, they are able to offer clients the jewelry of their dreams. Catering to the tri-state area, 27 Facets enables their clients to rent luxurious jewelry for any special occasion and with reasonable fees. Whether it be a wedding, bar or bat mitzvah, anniversary, or a birthday party, why own when you can rent?

The perks of jewelry for rent

Luxury jewelry stores all over the country sell diamond jewelry for extremely high prices. “Given that we’re in a recession, people are holding on to their money and purchasing a piece of fine jewelry has been put on the back burner… My partner and I can relate to a woman who wants to feel stunning and sexy when she gets dressed up and her desire to wear just as much sparkle as any other woman. We want all women to feel confident so our motto is, we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure you glimmer!” says Amber Berger, co founder of 27 Facets.

27 Facets offers jewelry for men and women starting at $500 to over $500,000 at retail. The rental fee is a small percentage of the retail value. Once the client decides what they are looking for, 27 Facets brings samples to their home or office for the client to choose. The jewelry is selected and then the client may wear the sparklers up to 48 hours.

“It’s a dream come true…it’s like walking into your favorite jewelry store, picking out exactly what you’ve been eyeing for months, renting it, taking it home and actually WEARING IT to an event you’re attending at the Waldorf Astoria, Plaza or even to a romantic dinner. We feel it’s best that our client’s do not have to part with loads of cash during this economic recession but they can still feel great and wear their fantasy jewelry for the night! The next day 27 Facets will coordinate a pick up. There is a secret society of borrowers and we intend to keep it that way but just make it more accessible,” says Jennifer Rosenthal, co-founder of 27 Facets. This way one can update their jewelry for each outfit without emptying their bank account!

How does one rent the jewelry?

There are three easy steps involved to rent the jewelry you always wanted. First; set up a meeting with 27 Facets to help find the perfect jewelry for you. The options are endless so think big and they will provide you with conversation worthy pieces. Second; once the jewelry is selected, the client pays a rental fee and gets insured for the jewels. The loan lasts between 24-48 hours based on the client’s needs. Third; at the end of the rental period, 27 Facets will coordinate the return with a specified pick up or drop off destination. This service allows clients to wear what they always wanted and allow the jewelry to be the centerpiece for their outfit that night. The jewelry may have only been worn for the evening but others will remember how stunning the client looked for a lifetime.

A diamond might last forever, but what if the marriage doesn't?

That's a great question. Unfortunately not all marriages last forever these days, leaving you with either a lot of baggage, or a baggage free life with a fresh new start, and to put it nicely, a small or big token of your ex's affection. Whether he picked out your engagement ring and wedding band or you did, it's all a moot point.

I'm sure at this point, whether it be 5 months or 5 years since your lovely divorce was finalized, you've had your rings locked up in your safe deposit box, hoping to never have to think about those memories again. Out of sight and out of mind. Even mentioning your marriage has probably left you wrapping your thumb around that bare and naked ring finger that once was draped in jewels...

Well ladies, it's time to turn over a new leaf. I am sure you thought about returning the ring to your ex..., selling it for cash (though, it's probably not worth as much as he said it was), or keeping it somewhere safe so you never have to revisit that once made commitment. Have you ever thought about treating yourself to something wonderful? Look back on the awful time you had getting over him and give yourself a reason to move on! Create something jaw dropping, dress up your ears with fabulous whopper earrings, make a diamond by the yard necklace, design a cocktail ring that will blow his mind away!

Take a look at what one of our clients did with her wedding band....trust me, you'll feel great with these on and he'll just be a distant memory!- oh, they're as big as they seem =)

G L A M O R O U S

Fergie said it right...glamorous! The ladies of the small screen "rocked" the red carpet last night, not only in their stunning gowns and beautiful frocks, but the jewels just dazzled us! Conventional this year, I think so. Old world glamour struck a cord with the ladies of the night. Whether the gown was Grecian, single-shoulder, draping or classic, the ladies studded themselves up with a twist on classic...Nothing too over the top this year and I don't think it's because of the recession, the ladies of the evening (or their amazing stylists) got it right this year. A choice they made, show off those lovely ears, or that stunning collarbone. It's one or the other...and well, if you chose both, you went too far! A stunning over sized stud, or fabulous chandelier embellished with diamonds and colored stones OR a one of a kind necklace. That's right, one or the other. 19th century inspired jewelry, like Hayden Panettiere's fabulous Fred Leighton gold and diamond snake necklace, so different, yet subtle and paired perfectly with her off the charts classic red dress. Vintage jewelry coupled itself with the classic chic dress very nicely... We have to give kudos to Jennifer Morrison for rocking the classic and always fabulous Cartier gold, diamond and sapphire panther ring...such a staple for any woman's jewelry box! And last but not least, our top pic for the night was Ginnifer Goodwin! She was draped in a stunning fuscia gown, only to pair it with a stunning, elegant and dashing rock crystal necklace by Ivanka Trump, that framed her face with beauty! What a look! All together, a great night of understated jewels that left us refreshed and wanting to see more!

Summer Travels

As the Summer comes to an end, I look back and think about how the summer is my favorite time of year. The sun is shinning, people are out in the streets and everyone is on the move. Whether you are jumping in your car to head to the Hamptons or traveling miles overseas, the finishing touches when packing are your favorite jewels in order to glisten in the sun.

I recently came back from Japan and felt like a fish out of water with my chunky jewels and chandelier earrings. The Japanese are quite a unique and special culture and much more simple in their taste for jewelry, keeping it clean and simple. Diamonds are not a big trend, it is more about value and history, which means GOLD, GOLD, GOLD. Local
artists and master craftspeople create beautiful and meaningful jewelry, mixing cutting-edge products of the highest quality where you learn about the processes the artisans use to create their goods and enjoy the interesting descriptions that explain the history behind these traditional Japanese arts. Meaningful symbols and signs are genuine examples of Japanese culture and fashion.

I would mark Japan as a MUST SEE country, the mountains are the most beautiful I have ever seen and you would never expect it. The people are so gracious and the food is unbelievable. You could shop for days is Tokyo as the city is huge and the stores are endless. It was an amazing trip but I have to say I am happy to be home!

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Yes, you heard correctly...it's midsummer, or past midsummer already...off to a rocky start, but the past few weekends have been beautiful, dreamy and absolutely perfect for a romantic evening outside. Whether your out east in the Hamptons, dining at over-the-top, luxury, star-studded restaurants, or you've been swept away by your loved one to a romantic, intimate destination, or even locked away in the city at a swanky downtown cozy little jewel, there's nothing more perfect than adding a little romance to complete your outfit. It doesn't matter if you're feeling trendy, conservative, punk, romantic, classic or flashy, a midsummer night's dream is all about how you want to accessorize yourself...not only in your dreams.

With a dabble of romance this week, we're keeping our eye on Van Cleef & Arpels. They did it right...feel enchanted by their diamond encrusted fairy and flower gems..how about a dazzling dual butterfly ring, that so delicately rests between two of your fingers, or their perfect snowflake and diamond Fleurette necklace, that perfectly rests on your neck..and listen to the sound of the dragonflies and butterflies...the charm and chime of the diamonds add that special and romantic effect...

You can never go wrong with a piece from Van Cleef...though it may be an investment, it will always remain timeless!

"Rock With You"

In the recent weeks we've all mourned the loss of Michael Jackson...His genius creativity and artistry has touched people all over the world...now, we want to pay homage to the king of pop. His music, his style, and of course, his trademark love of swarovski crystals has left an incredible impact on us. Whether his jacket or infamous glove was bejeweled with hundreds of thousands of crystals of all different colors and shapes, or the mere fact that he was supposed to wear 300,000 sparklers for his upcoming tour, or maybe it's just the glitter and glow of who he was just made him shine, either way, we know he will always be a rock star, and he'll always "Rock With You."

Sport a Jackson glove this week, the number 5, or a music note charm... embellish it with crystals, dazzle yourself with lots of diamonds, rhinestones, anything that will sparkle to help keep MJ in your heart.

Lots of Diamonds and Rubies,
